Kick- Ass: Issue 1

With Wanted hitting theaters in a short 24 hours from now, I felt it was the perfect time to go ahead and pick up another comic from the writer of the source material.

Kick Ass was also written by Wanted creator, Mark Millar. The story carries a lot of the similar characteristics that can be found in his previous stories. A boy tired of his existence, wanting something more but stuck in the daily muck of life's mud. The first story arc, much like Wanted, involves the breaking free of this life sucking routine.

In my opinion, Kick Ass is a much much better story than Wanted. Anyone who has ever read a comic book has at some point in their life wanted to be a super hero. We all imagine ourselves rising from a back alley brawl with a damsel in distress under arm and the moaning muggers at our feet. Well Kick Ass is a story about the kid who actually puts down the comic books, puts on the suit, and ventures into the night to kick some ass. Well... in this story arc I will say gets his ass kicked... bad... really bad. I mean he's a kid for crying out loud. A kid with no spidey sense, no lazer eyes, no ability to fly, no nothing except the iron will of change.

The art work is great, the characters solid, and the story awesome. I highly recommend picking up issues wherever they lie. I found this one on a sales rack in a random store. Don't miss it...

Interesting. I believe this one is being made into a movie, as well.

Yeah man... it is. You know it goes. You get that one moment of success(wanted) then it all comes flooding in until you are too oversaturated and overused... and then onto the next.

Wow that sounds like a great comic. Maybe I will be caught up enough one day to read it.
