Sin City
"walk down the right back alley in Sin City and you can find almost anything"

Sin City. The name says it all. One of the best movies all year, hands down. Here is my disclaimer. Not for the faint of heart, not for your average chick flick loving female, and not for anyone who hates a Tarintino/Rodriguez view on life, love, and liberty. OK. Now I can talk about how great it was.

My favorite characters are the characters that exhibit deep inner struggles and will not stop at anything to get what they want. No amount of bullets and no amount of obstacle will stop them. For everyone else they seem emotionless and immoral. But they are like ducks on the water. On the outside they are cold and placid but underneath the water there little legs of passion and fury is burning a mile a minute. These are the heroes of Sin City. That is the foundation of my love for this movie.

Cinema wise the movie is ground breaking. My only regret is that I will never get to make this movie. Having read the graphic novels that they are very very strictly based on I new what to expect. This is the first time that I would I have wished to have waited on the read. I wish I would have had the shock value of everyone else in the audience. It is great fun though watching people squirm when they don't know what is going to happen next.
Visually it was amazing. Everything is CGI except the actors. Kinda like Sky Captain but 50 times better. The black and white with splashes of color is brilliant. I was emersed the entire time.

As I was discussing the movie with Rena and describing it to her she came to the conclusion that this was a guys movie without even seeing it. That is definitely true. This is the epitome of a guy movie. Not to say that there aren't any girls out there that would like it. I can think of a few who would like it. I am just saying.

Lastly if you have any desire to see it I highly recommend to see it on the big screen. DO NOT WAIT TILL RENTAL. This is a big screen movie.

PS. My favorite character is Marv and The Salesman.
