The middle movie of the swashbuckling trilogy that follows Sparrow, Turner, and lady Elizabeth into the outer rim of the worlds end where they face hungry natives, sea monsters, witch doctors, and half men half ocean.
After seeing the first movie I was left disappointed for the simple reason that I expected it to be a serious action/drama with serious acting and intense sword play... it obviously was not. But for the sequel I was prepared and went in with a clean mental picture of what I might expect from with the iconic Jack Sparrow his rebellious gang of sword swingers and rum drinkers.
It was a great summer movie. Amazing effects, jaw dropping creatures, locations, camera work, acting and pirates. I mean what else could you ask for in a summer blockbuster. I thought the movie was more interesting and entertaining than the first. The story was deep and detailed tying in all characters new and old.
The only negative to the movie is a personal taste. I thought the humor was excellent, witty, and for the most part well placed. But maybe when it should have taken itself a little more seriously in some parts...Bullock, it is what it is because that's the way it is...and it was good for what it was. I laughed and smiled the whole movie through. I do want to see a serious pirate movie one day though. Maybe a Ninja movie too.
I felt like there were a lot of similarities between this movie and the Empire Strikes back. Especially the ending which definitely leaves you with your mouth dropped and hands in the air. I kinda like it that way though . Takes me back to the days of Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and The Matrix. The days when you had ongoing stories and characters you looked forward to seeing again and again.
Great summer movie...See it and you will have swashbuckling good time off the poop deck on the star board bow. Just lay off the rum. Savy?
